Maryland Emergency Number Association

Welcome to the web site of the Maryland Emergency Number Association (MENA), the Maryland Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association. MENA is not a government agency, but a professional organization that works closely with the Maryland state and local governments. .

MENA's purpose is to foster the development, availability, and implementation of a universal emergency telephone number (9-1-1) common to all jurisdictions by means of research, planning, training, and education; and through it's efforts strive toward citizens having immediate access to emergency public safety services to the end that safety of human life, the protection of property and civil welfare are benefited to the utmost degree..

In support of National 9-1-1 Education Month, which kicks off today, the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) released an E-Brochure entitled Making 9-1-1 Work for YOU!. The brochure is designed to provide essential information to the general public, children, teens, and parents about the 9-1-1 system and emergency response.
